What have I already done?

Hey guys,

oh my god, we hit the 20 views :-))) I know it doesn't sound that much, but it's very overwhelming for me. So twenty people have clicked on my blog. And three of them are Americans! That's such a weird feeling for me, that someone reads my blog that lives over seven thousand kilometres away from me.
So thank you!!

But now let's start with today's topic. I want to tell you what I have already done.

A few weeks ago, I told my mum that I want to go to New Zealand and she was like :"Are you kidding me?! No way!!" But then I talked to her and after long discussions she said YES. I was so happy in that moment!

Then I sent an application to GLS-Sprachenzentrum and they called us and said that I will have to come to Hamburg to their office.
So we did. First a nice women, with which I emailed before, told us everything about that exchange, asked me if i would have any allergies and so on.
Then I had to speak some English to her for about half an hour. My mum had to go out of the room and she asked me some question. It was like an interview. It was very easy, but I was very excited. Then she gave us an application folder and some information what I should write and so on.

One week later we got the contract. We signed it and sent it back to GLS.

Today I finished my application for the host family. I
Was very nervous to write anything wrong but it went well.
Now I just need to print a few photos of my family, friends and me and need to stick them in the application and then I can send it away😵.
Many families will have a look at my folder and with the information, the letters ( my letter to the host family and my mum's) and the photos they will know if I am the right exchange student or not.

Then I need to write my application for the school I want to go to, but that is pretty easy, because it's not that long. And I need to choose subjects I wanna have there. And that is not so easy...
I will be in the 11th grade, so two years before graduation and in Germany I would be in the ninth grade, so three years before graduation. So this is pretty weird for me, but I think (and hope!) it will get well.

So that's for today!
Bye Bye
Helene😘😘

The journey

Hello everybody!

how are you? I feel great :-)
Today I want to tell you some information about my journey to New Zealand. First of all I'll start with some random data:
Something you should know is that my bestfriend Flora will come with me. We won't stay with the same host family or go to the same schools. She will be about 50 kms away from me. But we will fly together to New Zealand.
If we're talking about flying, our flight is on January 23 2017. We will fly from Hamburg to Frankfurt on our own and then from Frankfurt to Dubai to Sydney with a GLS-watchdog that will take care of us and help us on the long distance flights. The whole journey will take about 24 hours. Isn't that crazy?  We will be at airports and on airplanes one whole day. But we fly to the other side of the world, so it's worth it.
I will stay in New Zealand for three months. But if I think it's super great and I want to stay longer,  I have the opportunity to stay longer. But my mum doesn't want me to stay longer, so we will see what will happen.
We will stay in Sydney for three days and have an introduction event and the chance to walk around in Sydney and chill on the beach and stuff. I am super excited to go there, because Sydney is such a famous and cool city and I always wanted to travel there.
After those three days we will fly to New Zealand, so in my case, to Auckland. This flight will take about three hours.
Then our host familys will pick us up and we will meet them for the first time. Of course I am going to email them and stuff before, but I think I will die with excitement before I even meet them.

So, have a great day and see you soon!

Hello World!

Hello World!

wow! My first ever Blogpost! I am pretty excited, but also very motivated to do this.
First of all, I think, i have to introduce myself to you guys:
My name is Helene and I am 14 years old. I am from Germany.
I made this blog to write about the experiences I will go through. But not just those typical teenager-things.
I will go to New Zealand next year. I will take part in an exchange programme for three months and I will live in NZ with a host family and go to a real New Zealand High School.
I am super excited for that time, because I think it will be the best in my life.
My exchange organization is GLS-Sprachenzentrum .

Then I have to apologize for my english. I am not a native speaker. Like I've said, I am from Germany. I have learned English for six years now, of course I make mistakes. If you find one, just comment down below. That would help me.

I made this blog also to help boys and girls, that wants to go to foreign countries like me. I would have wanted (and needed) that too, so I think it is great. And I love to write, I always wanted to have a blog, so in Germany you would say "zwei fliegen mit einer Klatsche", word for word translated, it means "two flies with one flyswatter", so  that you achieved two things within one step.

So, I hope you like my blog. And don't be shy and leave a comment ;-)
Yours, Helene
